Students in Miss White’s third grade class had fun learning about graphs in math this week! They formed questions, took a survey and made a graph of their findings.

Aligned with our study of the branches of US Government, we had an election for class President and Vice President. After a few days of amazing posters, eloquent speeches, and little incentives in the form if treats and bouncy balls, the clear winners have emerged! Mrs.

4th Grade Read-a-Thon!

Submitted by susan.bird on

The 4th graders in Mrs. Gulbransen's class won a reward party for their good behavior and chose to have a read-a-thon. They brought stuffed animals, blankets, and their favorite books! They made forts and we popped popcorn. We had a great time munching on our snacks and reading our favorite stories with our friends!

Submitted by susan.bird on

Mrs. Haines 5th grade class were able to go and help their 1st grade reading buddies with their reading. They had to read their leveled books first before they were able to help them with their library books. The 5th graders loved being able to help and were so excited that their buddies were awesome readers. They can't wait to go back!

Fourth Grade talks Density

Submitted by susan.bird on

We have been learning about density. First we checked to see what things were more dense than water. We found those things would sink. If things were less dense than water they would float. Next we made density towers with different liquids. The more dense liquids would go to the bottom.

Wonder

Submitted by susan.bird on

In 5th grade we finished reading the book Wonder as our class read-a-loud. So as a reward we were able to watch the movie. Students brought pillows, blankets and treats to share. It was so fun being able to compare the book to the movie to see all the differences and similarities!

Boston Massacre Reenactment

Submitted by susan.bird on

In 5th grade social studies we've been learning about the Revolutionary War. Yesterday we were learning about the Boston Massacre where groups of colonists threw snowballs and rocks at British soldiers. We did a snowball activity where the students answered questions like "what do you do when you're upset" "How do you manage being upset" and "how did people during the revolutionary war manage being upset" and then got to throw their crumpled up paper across the room.

2018-2019 Student Council

Submitted by susan.bird on

Our student council members attended a leadership conference at BYU on Monday! They listened to some inspiring speakers and learned leadership skills to bring back to Brookside this year. Some of these students’ favorite take-aways were: lead others with your heart and your brain, have a positive attitude, be inclusive, be kind, be more accepting, and have grit!
