It pays to read!  The kids have been reading at home to earn tickets for the "PAYS to READ" assembly.  At the assembly the kids played some fun games and some of the  kids took home money, candy and everyone that read this semester went home with a book!  Keep on reading!

Dear Parents,

Merry Christmas, everyone!

We have had an exciting day today. The students participated in our first “It Pays to Read” assembly. Throughout the year, students who have met their weekly reading goal have earned a ticket. All the tickets have been collected and we had drawings for opportunities to play different games and to “Shoot for Cash”. At the end of the assembly, we had two grand prize drawings for a Kindle and a Razor scooter. We also celebrated reading by giving each student a book of their very own. So if you student comes home today with cash or prizes, they won them at school. It was a good time for all!

Christmas break begins this Friday. School will be dismissed at 12:00, noon. There will be no PM kindergarten and AM kindergarten will dismiss at the normal time of 11:35 am. If your kindergartener rides the bus to school, they will need to wait until 12:00 to ride the bus home or you are more than welcome to pick come them up. School will resume the morning of January 2nd. We hope you have a wonderful holiday and a safe break!

The Crystal Apple Goes To...

Mrs. Becky Jorgensen

Mrs. Antonino is this year’s Crystal Apple Award winner at Brookside Elementary.  This award is much deserved. Mrs. Antonino is the facilitator here at Brookside and helps every single person with a variety of problems.  Mrs. Wirfs, Mrs. Antonino’s sister wrote here an amazing tribute. Here are just a few of those words. “Mrs. Antonino has an amazing work ethic in which she can get any job done quickly and thoroughly.  Not only can she do just about anything, but she teaches, guides, and mentos others along the way.”

Her colleagues said this about Mrs. Antonino:  “She always encourages me when I am losing confidence.  She brings me up!” “Mrs. Antonino is always there to bounce ideas off of, to listen when you need an ear and to offer suggestions when needed.”  “She is amazing because she has always been there for me, to pick me pick up when I fall short and make sure that I see good in myself!” Mrs. Antonino has just the right mix of characteristics and skills to be effective in her demanding position.  She works so hard to vouch for the kids, while providing sincere and helpful support to teachers. She cares about us, as colleagues and she cares about kids, and that is why she is great at her job.” “Mrs. Antonino is a good listener and hard worker.  She is a great supporter. When called, she comes as soon as she can and if she doesn’t know the answer, she always figures it out.”

We love Mrs. Antonino and are so lucky she is here at Brookside!

Mrs. LeAnn Andrews

Today Mrs. Andrews Fourth graders along with Mrs. Willis’ and Mrs. Pickering’s first grade classes at Brookside were the recipients of stories, activities and a little treat.  Ryan Hicks with some members of his team (Pam, Russell and Christine) from Intermountain Healthcare shared their time with the students as part of an ongoing service project that could bring STEM activities to our school.  Thank you IHC for your service to the community.
