The fourth graders have been working with Mrs. Antonino to learn their multiplication facts. They have spent over 10 weeks practicing, training, and competing against themselves and other classes in a world series type competition. These 7 students earned their way to Homebase! They were rewarded by walking over to Reams to get an ice cream cone! Way to go to these students and the whole fourth grade for all their hard work! Carson ChristianCharlie SmithChristain TenneyCarter BartholomewOlivia BurrisNixon YoungTrygve Stewart

Body Safety Presentation

Brookside was lucky to get some great presenters from Prevent Child Abuse Utah to come and teach the kids about being safe! The younger kids got to meet Safetysaurus and the older kids got to play some games with the instructors, and did so great! We're excited to have knowledgeable instructors teaching our kids how to stay safe! For more information about the program, and how you can help your kids stay safe, go to pcautah.org

The third graders attended their track meet on Monday, May 13.  It was a hot day, but the kids had a fun time learning how the track meet works.  They did an amazing job and worked hard.  Great job, third graders.

Loose Change for Food

Mrs. Becky Jorgensen

The second grade are doing their annual service project, Loose Change for Food.  They will be collecting loose change starting today, May 13 through Friday, May 17.  Why are they doing this?  The second grade social studies core asks them to identify and participate in a local civic activity.  They will be donating they earn to the loocal food bank. Each dollar they earn streches to more than two for the food bank.  For example, if they earn $200 then the food bank can buy $500 worth of food.  They will aslo be practicing math skills:  adding money and graphing.  Last year they earned $655.00 (can we beat that this year?).

Please have your child check through couch cushions, the car, under the bed or do some chores to earn some loose change and bring it in (they accept dollars, too).

The second grade teachers thatn kyou as they teach their students to think of others and provide food for those less fortunate.

Mrs. Dana Beckert

Dear Parents,

We have had some events rescheduled for different times. I wanted to make you aware of them. They are as follows:

  • 6th Grade graduation has been changed to May 23rd at 9:30 am. The 6th grade celebration will still be on May 22nd at 2:00, but because of Springville High School’s graduation and other factors the graduation has been rescheduled.

  • The 3rd grade track meet has been rescheduled for Monday, May 13th because of the expected bad weather.

  • Please let me know if you have any questions about these events. Thank you!

Also, our 2nd grade classes are doing a “Loose Change for Food” service project next week, May 13th through the 17th. The 2nd grade core curriculum asks students to identify and participate in a local civic activity. Last year they collected over $655.00 and donated it to the food shelter. If you have any questions, please contact Becky Jorgensen, Dustin Anderson, or Darla Stapel. Thank you!

Have a great day,

Dana Beckert
