2nd Term reward party

Submitted by susan.bird on Wed, 01/27/2021 - 12:03

Here at Brookside, we like to celebrate great behavior.  One way we do that is by having students work toward our term parties.  Some terms we do school wide rewards and other terms we do grade level rewards.  This term was by grade level and every that earned their reward had a great time.  The first graders had a blast playing board games, card games and digital games.  The second graders enjoyed popsicles and a few games and then finished their celebration in their own classrooms.  The fifth graders were able to play board games together.  Way to go Brookside Tigers!  Keep up the great work.

Multiplication All Stars

Submitted by susan.bird on Mon, 01/25/2021 - 12:26

The fifth graders have been working hard on their fast facts.  They are learning them or trying to get faster with them.  So, Mrs. Antonino issued a challenge.  Get a home run by passing off 100 facts in five minutes.  We started with Spring Training (well, fall training).  Mrs. Antoninio would come in twice a week.  The first time, she would give the students a timing. These would be graded and Mrs. Antonio would return.  Anyone that passed their paper off, moved a base around our baseball diamonds. This was really a warm up to the World Series (yes, we skipped the regular season).  This time the students were working as a team.  Students still needed to pass off their facts and if they did, they were able to move around the bases.  But the added bonus was the class with the most improvement each week got a class prize!  If the student made it all the way around to home plate, they made it to the All Star team with the grand prize of an ice cream cone from Reams.  The best part of this wasn’t the prizes or the ice cream, it was that every single fifth grader improved with their facts.  Mrs. Smith, Miss White, Miss Bird, Mrs. Antonino and Mrs. Beckert are so proud of the hard work that these students put in!

Congratulations to the following students who made it to the All Star Team:

  • Parker Antonino
  • Noah Cardenas
