Mrs. Celiece Young is one of our new reading technicians.  She works with students to help with their reading goals.  The students love her and we are so lucky to add Mrs. Young to our Brookside family.

Love to do on the weekend: Spend time time with my family

If you could have lunch with any fictional character who would you choose? Patton Burgess from Fablehaven

Who was your favorite teacher and why? I loved Ms. Sutton and Mr. Park from art city. Mr Park was the 5th grade teacher mentioned in my recess story. And Ms. Sutton was always so kind and happy.

If you were given $1000 - what would you buy? Clothes

Share a memory of school: When I was in 3rd grade the KSL weather team visited our school and did the weather from there. That was a fun day.

What is the best thing about your job? Getting to know the students at Brookside

Favorites:

  • Pizza: Canadian bacon and pineapple
  • book/author:Brandon Mull
  • Ice cream: Chocolate chip cookie dough
  • Sport: Football
  • Color: Pink
  • Snack:Cookies
  • Zoo Animal: Tigers
  • Favorite thing to play at recess: My 5th grade teacher would play a tag game in the snow. We would all stomp out a big circle with lines running through it. Then one person would be it and you had to stay on the path. All the kids would watch the 5th grade teachers play this with their students. It was so fun when I was finally a 5th grader and could play the game.

Our praise note students this week are: Preston Martinez: He helped a classmate read their ruler in math, McKenzie Garrett, Adalaide Everly, Josie Harding and Hadleigh Sorenson helped clean up trash at recess, Mason Kentjana Putra has been very helpful this week. He has helped other students without being asked, Brielle Churn helped pick up garbage off the floor without even being asked, and Sofia Arreola was super helpful. She helped to clean up our classroom.

Our school wouldn't be the same without wonderful students like these making it great. We love all our students.

Dear Brookside Parents,

Here are a couple of reminders as we head into the end of this week:

  1. Tomorrow, Thursday, March 25th, we will be holding SEP conferences. This term is a little different with student led conferences so please refer to information from your student's teacher for information and clarification.

  2. There will be no school on Friday, March 26th.

  3. Yearbooks are still on sale through the end of the year. The price is $15.00. You can pay by cash, check or Venmo @BrooksideSpringvillePTA. Please include student’s name, grade and teacher with your payment so we know where to deliver the yearbook.

  4. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We are so grateful for our wonderful Brookside staff and look forward to celebrating them.

We are so excited to be going into fourth term.  Thank you for sharing your children with us and supporting their education!

Have a great evening,

Outstanding Employee - Mrs. Valorie Seitz

Mrs. Lexie Hill

We are so excited to present Mrs. Seitz with our Outstanding Certified Employee this year.  Mrs. Seitz is amazing!  She works in our skills room where she is working with all kinds of students.  She loves these kids and they all love her.  We take our projects to her to help us with and she completes them quickly and they always look amazing.

Her daughter, and first grade teache, Lexi Hill said, "I have to admit, when I told my mom she should apply for this skills job at the school I worked at, I was worried that she would get the job and then everyone would love her more than me... which is exactly what happened! My mom is so deserving of this award. She truly loves the students here at Brookside and I can honestly say she cares about them as if they were her own children. There have been countless times that she will call me after school, just to talk about school and the kiddos she got to work with that day. Which says a lot about how much she cares about them. Whether it’s rescuing teachers from a student throwing chairs (if you know, you know), making copies and putting things together for teachers and staff, or bringing her teacher daughter a lunch when she forgets one, Mrs. Seitz has been such a great addition to our Brookside family!"

Congratuations, Mrs. Seitz!

She is very organized and timely with the food preparation and the daily kitchen duties. She runs our team smoothly. Suzi is helpful and kind. She is also great with the students who help serve! She is always the first to help wherever needed. Suzi is amazing and promotes a positive atmosphere.”

Laurie Bills was chosen as Secretary Employee of the year. “Laurie supports every staff member, student, and parent in our Brookside community. She is proactive, kind, and pleasant. She works hard at her job and is always trying to learn more so she can meet everyone's needs. Laurie is simply amazing!”
