Unfair Taxes

In fifth grade, we have been learning about the causes of the American Revolution.  In Miss Bird’s class, we have had an economy from the beginning of school where the kids have been earning tigers for their weekly pay and doing good work.  The past couple of weeks, we have started having taxes and the students are beginning to hate this time. The taxes increase in frequency until they finally just get angry and “rebel” like the colonist did.  These taxes are unfair like wearing jeans, blonde hair, having a sister. We also had some fees like a chair fee. This is a great visual for the kids to see how the colonist felt when the British were imposing all of the unfair taxes.
