Our student council and a handful of fifth graders had the opportunity to present to the Nebo Board of Education during the March board meeting.  The student council began the presentation by talking about some of the great things that are happening at our school.  They talked about Our school theme for the year which is Rise Up To Excellence. Mrs. Beckert presents Tiger Pride assemblies where she has been teaching about the acronym RISE and what it stands for:  it means to show Respect, be In Control, be Selfless, and be Engaged when we come to school. As a student council we have tried to be the examples and help our peers Rise Up To Excellence.

The Student Council talked about their focus for the year.  They want to promote kindness in our school.  One way they did this is a program called Cheers for Peers.  Each month, the student council finds and highlights students who are showing kindness in their classes, on the playground and to their classmates and peers.  This program has highlighted many acts of kindness and continues to spread throughout the school.

They went on to explain our charity fundraiser, Pack the Piggies.  They are so grateful for the support received that helped them reach their goal.  Finally, they talked about what they are doing next.  Their new way of spreading kindness is their Cheers Clips Campaign.  They will be spreading words of kindness and encouragement throughout the school.

To end our presentation, we had some fifth graders perform a Drums Alive inspired performance.  Our fourth and fifth  grade students have been learning about Drums Alive in P.E.  Groups of students have worked together to create a Drums Alive routine.  They selected their own music and choreographed their routines.  Thank you to Mr. Crockett for helping these students with their performance.  You can view the performance at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Av2SqRviQ3w
