Miss Susie Bird

Miss Susie Bird is teaching fourth grade this year.  She is in her seventeenth year of teaching and has also taught fifth grade and sixth grade.  Susie is a good coworker.  She is always trying to help others, listen when they need it and provide advice if they are seeking it.  She loves teaching and is enjoying her fourth graders this year.  We are happy to have Susie her at Brookside.

Miss Bird graduated from Springville High School and college from UVU.  She has endorsements is both ESL and Gifted and Talented.  Susie attended Brookside as a fifth grader and was excited when she was hired her and got to teach and learn from some of the teacher she had when she was in fifth grade.

Susie was born in Utah but because her dad was in the Air Force her family traveled around. Being the baby of the family, she didn’t get to travel as much as her siblings but I lived in Idaho and New Mexico before her dad’s retirement to Utah. She loves reading and spending time with family and friends.  She  would say that she has two favorite places that she likes to be: In her classroom with her students and inside of a good book.

What are you looking forward to most about this school year? “Getting to know my students and learning all about fourth grade.”

What do you love about your job?  “Seeing the lightbulb go off in my student’s eyes when they finally understand something that they were struggling with.”

Share your favorite quote.  “Every storm runs out of rain.” - Maya Angelou

What is something no one may know about you? “I have never been on a plane or to Disneyland.”

Is there anything else you would like parents and/or students to know about you? “I love being at Brookside where I am able to teach some of the best students around.  I love working with the parents and the community.  This is a great place to be!”
