Mrs. Tammy Smith

Our spotlight today is on one of our fabulous fifth grade teachers, Mrs. Tammy Smith.  Tammy has been teaching for eleven years.  She has taught kindergarten, first grade and fifth grade.  Tammy is a great coworker and teammate.  She always has a smile on her face, a good story to tell and a positive word of encouragement.  She loves teaching and it shows by her caring attitude toward her students.  We love having Tammy in our Brookside family.

Tammy graduated from Lyman High School in Wyoming. Her bachelors degree is from University of Phoenix and her masters degree is from Southern Utah University. She  has a TELL (ESL) Endorsement from BYU and a Math Endorsement from Utah Valley University.

Mrs. Smith grew up in Idaho and Wyoming. She has been married to George for 32 years and they have five children, two sons-in-law, and a little granddaughter. She loves movies, baking, and camping with her family. Their favorite place to go is the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming.

What are you looking forward to most about this school year?I am looking forward to getting to know my 30 students and helping them learn and prepare to be middle schoolers next year.”

What do you love about your job?  “I love teaching and watching others learn something new, and in the process, I learn from them too. Teaching is the hardest, best job ever!”

Share your favorite quote.  “Nothing determines attitude like attitude!”

What is something no one may know about you?I once skinned an elk in a Sunday dress--I have worked a lot of other jobs before I became a teacher:  retail, restaurants, and a custom meat-cutting operation!”

Is there anything else you would like parents and/or students to know about you? “I love teaching and I am committed to helping every student be better--I believe any child can learn with support and a positive attitude.”
