Mrs. Hutchings and family

Mrs. Hattie Hutchings is our new PE teacher.  She has jumped into this roll with excitement and enthusiasm.  The students love going to PE to find what new game or skill they are going to learn.  We are excited to have Mrs. Hutchings in our Brookside family.

Hattie graduated from Payson High School and has a Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion from Weber State University. She chose Health Promotion after working as a CNA so she could educate people and help them implement good nutrition and physical fitness for good health. She decided to teach PE so she could help students learn that physical fitness is fun and good for you (mentally and physically)!

Mrs. Hutchings grew up in Payson. She and husband, Larry, have four children and a favorite son-in-law: Wyatt and Madison, Trevor, Ryan, Alex. They have a dog named Bear, a cat named Cheeto, a horse named Twister and a grand puppy named Kayia. They lived in Payson for 15 years before moving to Spanish Fork nine years ago.

Hattie is an early riser. She enjoys getting up before dawn to run, swim, bike or workout. In the summer and after school, she works with her two youngest boys doing farm chores at her father-in-law's farm. She loves hiking, camping, playing games, doing sports or recreational activities with her family and friends. She has a passion for nutrition and exercise. She often convinces her extended family to join her in health challenges throughout the year. Her favorite place to be is with her family.

  • What are you looking forward to most about this school year? “Getting to know the students and faculty.”
  • What do you love about your job?  “Seeing the students try new games/sports and learning to have fun while being active.”
  • Share your favorite quote. "There is no growth in the comfort zone and no comfort in the growth zone". Elder Schmit
  • What is something no one may know about you? “Often, when I run a marathon, I dedicate a mile to someone and write it on the back of my bib number. In October, when I ran the St. George Marathon, I dedicated miles 1-18, for each teacher and their class at Brookside.”
  • Is there anything else you would like parents and/or students to know about you? “I expect good sportsmanship and am trying to implement it in each class. I may be a little strict but I love to have fun and see the students try new things.”
