Every year, the teacher at Brookside choose one deserving teacher for the Crystal Apple Award. This award is given to a teacher who loves and cares about their students, works hard, is a team player and a faculty member and friend. This year’s award goes to Mrs. LeAnn Andrews.
A former teammate of Mrs. Andrews said, “LeAnn Andrews has taught hundreds of students over the past 30 years and I wouldn't be surprised if every one of them thought they were her favorite. Perhaps her greatest strength is her steadiness. She patiently works with all students be they shy, stubborn, withdrawn, or shall we say, feisty. Whether students enter her classroom as high achievers or with struggling scores she will find a way to gently guide them towards greater success.”
Another colleague said, “Mrs. Andrews always works to make learning fun. She approaches all the subjects with equal enthusiasm. She uses projects to help reinforce learning concepts. She is SUPER supportive of other teachers. She will share anything and everything to help others succeed. Mrs. Andrews is always positive. She is firm, fair, and kind. Everything any parent, or associate, would want in a teacher.”
