Welcome To Brookside Mrs. Beckert

Submitted by alicia.rudd on

I would like to introduce you to your new principal for the 2017-2018 school year.  Her name is Dana Beckert and she is wonderful.  I've had many chances over the years to rub shoulders with Mrs. Beckert and know you will love her.  I've already told her how amazing your children are and how supportive you, as parents are.  I'm so grateful for the time I've been at Brookside and know she will continue making our school the best place for your children.

Here is a little more of her many accomplishments:

The Nebo School Board of Education appointed Danalee Beckert as Principal of Brookside Elementary for Nebo School District.

Danalee received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University and master’s degree in Education and an Administrative License both from Southern Utah University.

Mrs. Beckert served as a facilitator at Sierra Bonita for the past six years. She taught fifth grade at Rees Elementary for eight years and at Art City for one year.

One of Dana’s favorite books is The Ultimate Gift, by Jim Stovall. The main character, Red Stevens, proclaims, “I believe the reason a graduation ceremony is called a commencement is because the process of learning begins – or commences – at that point. The schooling that went before simply provided the tools and the framework for the real lessons to come.”

“As educators, we have the great opportunity to provide those tools and framework,” said Mrs. Beckert. “I feel my responsibility as a school leader is to help students, teachers and staff members develop a bedrock foundation of confidence and determination to learn at high levels so they can face the challenges of life successfully.”

A colleague said, “Dana is a most extraordinary individual and leader. She is instrumental in bringing about success for students, staff, and the community. Dana helped direct the work of our school leadership team, coordinate faculty meetings and professional development. Dana works hard and cares deeply. She leads by example. Dana is a gift to the education profession.”

Mrs. Beckert is a PEAK Award recipient. She expressed, “I come from a long line of educators. My parents are both educators and the tradition is alive and well in my immediate family. My two oldest daughters are teachers, and my two youngest children are both attending universities with plans to go into teaching and coaching.

Dana enjoys reading, health and exercise, swimming, and spending time with children and grandchildren. She is married to Daniel, and they have four children and two grandchildren.
