Mrs. Darla Stapel

Brookside is lucky to have Mrs. Darla Stapel working at Brookside.  Mrs. Stapel Has been teaching for 27 years.  She has spent the majority of her time at Brookside,  in second grade.  This year she made a change and is now our Reading Intervention Specialist.  We love having Mrs. Stapel in our Brookside family.

Mrs. Stapel attended high school in Lander Wyoming.  She attended BYU Hawaii, Ricks College, and BYU Provo.  She earned her Masters Degree from California University at San Bernardino.

Mrs. Stapel  grew up in Lander, Wyoming.  Her  parents always grew a large garden and they learned to pick weeds and harvest the food.  She loved to pick the peas (and she ate a lot of them).  Her mom sewed most of their clothing and her dad hunted so that they could have meat to eat.

She and her husband, Gordon, have six children and eight grandchildren.  They love to go camping and boating.  She loves to read.  During this past summer she read well over 10 books. She loves hanging out with her family.  They like to spend time outside playing with the grandkids.

What are you looking forward to most about this school year?I am so excited for my new job here at Brookside Elementary.  I have the wonderful opportunity to teach reading to students from all the different grades and I get to make lots of new friends.”

What do you love about your job?  “I love teaching kids.  It makes me so happy when students understand/learn something new and you can actually see it in their eyes when they "get it."  I also love how funny and smart our students are.  They give me so many  reasons each day to laugh and smile.  I love helping them become their best selves.”

What is something no one may know about you?In high school I was on the diving team and the synchronized swimming team.”

Is there anything else you would like parents and/or students to know about you? “I want our parents and students to know that I am willing to help them in any way that I can.  I love my job and can't imagine doing anything else.  Go Brookside Tigers!”
