Jessica Barrett

Mrs. Jessica Barrett joins our kindergarten team, teaching our half day kindergarteners.  Mrs. Barrett is upbeat and always has a smile on her face.  She is full of energy and that’s needed when teaching five-year-olds all morning!  We are so excited to have Mrs. Barrett join our Brookside family!

This is Jessica’s first year teaching kindergarten!  She graduated from Southern Utah University with a degree in History and Early Childhood Development.

Jessica grew up in the small town of Ferron in central Utah. She have been married for 26 years to Her husband, Jefferson. They  have four kiddos - three sons and one daughter. They love hiking, cycling, all kinds of music, reading and cooking new foods! Her favorite place to be is around the dinner table with her family-trying new recipes and just being together.

  • What are you looking forward to most about this school year? “Watching my kindergarteners make leaps and bounds of growth!”
  • What do you love about your job? “I love teaching! I love being greeted each day by my exuberant students!  I love their zest for life and how they can find fun in anything! I love recess, snacks, finger painting and all things Kindergarten! Kindergarten is the best place to be!”
  • Share your favorite quote. "There are three ways to ultimate success: The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind." Fred Rogers
  • What is something no one may know about you? “I used to play second violin in the Orchestra of Southern Utah.”
  • Is there anything else you would like parents and/or students to know about you? “I love teaching and I love Kindergarten at Brookside! The fun story is that my own children attended Brookside in 2013-2014 and my son had Mrs. Gallagher as his teacher. It is so fun that I now get to be on her team as I was her mom class helper 10 years ago!”
