100th Day of School

Submitted by susan.bird on

Recently we celebrated the 100th day of school!  There were a lot of celebrations held around our school.  In fifth grade recently, the student wrote about what their life would have been like if they were 100 years old.  Then we aged them to look 100.

Physical Changes of Matter

Submitted by susan.bird on

In our first science unit, Miss Bird’s fifth grade has been studying about physical changes.  We know that a physical change will change what something looks like and it is reversible. In this experiment we were wondering if water weighs the same when it is frozen and then melted again.  Our conclusion, after we froze the water it weighed the same. The students are learning so much about physical changes and that matter is the same weight after we change it.

UVU Clinical Interns

Submitted by susan.bird on

We have a program here at Brookside that brings UVU students who are studying in the Education program into classrooms.  These individuals are called clinical interns. They spend four days in classes and three days here at Brookside. They spent the first half of the year with the younger grades and this half of the year with upper grades.  Here is a little bit about each of our clinical interns

Brookside Praise Note Students For January 25, 2019

Submitted by liz.porter on

Look what these students did this week to make great choices: Matthew Christian reads and read and reads! He is a great example of loving to read, Jayse Divine was very respectful of our visitors this week, Brielle Ballard always works hard and has a good attitude,  Ayva Haglund is always raising her hand in class.

Thank you students for working hard on your school work and attitude. You are showing what it means to be a #Brookside Tiger. Keep it the great work!

Fraction Fun

Submitted by susan.bird on

Miss White’s class had some fun with play-dough and unit fractions this week!  Also, Miss White’s class is learning about fractions on a number line. They used play dough to help them count the spaces, not the lines!

Martin Luther King, Jr. Speech

Submitted by susan.bird on

Carlos presented on oral repost to Mrs. Andrews’s class on Friday.  He has been learning about Martin Luther King Jr. during his time working with Mrs. Allen.  He was nervous, but did a great job. He did a great job writing his report in English as well.  Carlos has only been learning English for about a year, and is doing amazing. Good job not giving up when it is hard Carlos!  We are excited to have Carlos learn with us.
