Submitted by susan.bird on

Today, for our Friends Friday, we are spotlighting Mrs. Kandice Antonino.  Mrs. Antonino is our facilitator her at Brookside which means that she teaches the teachers.  But, she does more than that. She helps kids, teaches lessons, listens, gives advice, helps wherever it’s needed and more.  Mrs. Antonino works as our mentor to our new teachers, but really, to everyone here. We love having Mrs. Antonino here at Brookside!

This week Mrs. Crandell's class finished their argumentative essays on bugs. We finished by having two cookies one made with cricket flour and some people were even brave enough to try a chocolate cricket, even Mrs. Crandell!

Submitted by susan.bird on

The entire second grade put on a program on Thursday, January 30th for the whole school. This program includes songs about friendship, diversity, and our great country, The United States! Each student has a speaking part that plays an important role in the program. The students have been learning the songs for this program since the beginning of the school year. Mrs. Fitzgerald, our amazing music teacher, has been teaching them the songs and fun actions to go with them. Mrs. Jorgensen, Mrs.

One Hundredth Day of School

Submitted by susan.bird on

Brookside celebrated the 100th day of school on Monday.  We had lots of fun activities going on during the day. Here are a few of the celebrations. First and second grade dressed up as 100 year-old ladies and gentlemen.  First grade build cup towers out 100 cups and make necklaces. Mrs. Jorgensen decorated her door and her class wrote a poem. And the fifth grade figured out how many licks it took to get to the center of a lollipop.  It was a fun day with lots of activities!

It’s Friends Friday and today we are spotlighting another of our great technicians - Mrs. Lexi Hill.  Mrs. Hill is a favorite among students and teachers. She is reliable, smart and willing to fill in whenever necessary.  She subs in classes, works one on one with students, runs small groups and endures the heat and cold for recess duty. She is amazing!  We love Mrs. Hill.

What do you love to do on the weekend: Ride horses in the mountains and spend time with my husband.

BYU Women's Basketball game Field Trip

Submitted by susan.bird on

Our fifth and sixth graders enjoyed a field trip on Thursday to the BYU Marriot Center to watch the Women’s basketball team take on the San Francisco Dons.  This was an extremely fun field trip. We were right there, starting on the front row, the cheer squad was right in front of us and so was the action. The kids got crazy and dance just to see themselves on the Jumbotron.  We were entertained by Cosmo and the BYU Dunk Team at half time. To make the experience even better, BYU played a great game and came out as victors.
