Parents and Pastries

Submitted by susan.bird on

We had a great turn out to our annual Parents and Pastries day. Students brought their parents and siblings to Brookside this morning to enjoy a donut and books together.  We are so grateful for the turnout with all the parents and families to come and celebrate reading together.  Thank you to all the  volunteers who make this possible.

Fifth Grade Visits Spring Canyon Middle School

Submitted by susan.bird on

Our fifth graders had the opportunity to visit Spring Canyon Middle School to tour the school and learn all about what middle school has to offer. The students listened to the counselors talk about what middle school will be like and what classes are offered. Then, they took them on a tour of the school. The students came back excited, overwhelmed and maybe a bit scared. Thanks for hosting us Spring Canyon.

Fourth Grader Visit the Ancient Life Museum

Submitted by susan.bird on

Our fourth graders recently visited the Ancient Life Museum at Thanksgiving Point to learn more about fossils.  In science this year, we have learned about fossils in Utah.  We took a visit to the museum to put our knowledge to the test.  We got to explore the museum and learn about fossils found in Utah.  We had a classroom experience where our guide taught us how to observe fossils.  We got a hands on experience by looking and sorting fossils that have been found in Utah.  Students came back tired but they had so much fun!

Fifth Grade Visits the State Capitol Building

Submitted by susan.bird on

Our fifth graders visited the Utah State Capitol Building this week. First we met with Representative Whyte who talked to us about the Capitol building and his job there. He answered some students questions too! Then we were invited to sit in the balcony at the legislative session and our school was recognized. Very cool!
