Mrs. Jorgensen’s class experimented to answer this question: because of gravity, do heavier objects fall faster? Later in the week, they talked about measurement. They spent time measuring how tall some animals are in inches feet and yards. Then, the students made meter sticks and measuring in meters and centimeters.

We have been learning about the three kinds of fossils that are found in Utah. We were able to look at real fossils on loan from the Utah National History Museum. Loving our hands-on learning!

Every term the students at Brookside Elementary are working on being great students. They try to be on their best behavior. Every student that follows the rules, listens and does the best they can is awarded with a term reward. For our third term reward, we attended an assembly that featured the BYU Dunk Team and Cosmo. The BYU Cougars talked about being Cougar strong. They talked about being mentally strong, socially strong and mentally strong. They demonstrate each of these.
Mrs. Ramos' class learned a song about the wind and sun with Mrs. Fitzgerald. They even acted it out. Well done! We love drama and music.

The fifth grade had a visit from Kimball Arts Center. Our presenter focused on the photographers Sue Flood and Paul Crow. She shared the artist’s work with us talking about how every piece of artwork has a story and a meaning behind it. The kids loved creating stories about the Sue Floods pictures of penguins. When we looked at Paul Crows photos, we talked about the texture and patterns in the ice. The the students created their own artwork. They drew pictures of creatures from a cold climate.
