Mrs. Jorgensen’s second grade are learning about communities. The unit, Groups make Communities, goes along with our citizenship core. During the week we read a story about Henry and his dog mudge, I brought my dog in for a text-to-world connections.
They learned that one of the things scientists do to figure things out is sort. In second grade they did a sorting activity. The second graders learned that one community is our school community. Students were assigned to interview a staff member or videotape it. When all was done, we watch the videos to learn about the staff in our school community.
