Saying Goodbye to Friends

Submitted by susan.bird on

We have some friends leaving Brookside this year and they will be missed.  They are moving on to different opportunities and we wish them them best in all their new endeavors.

Mrs. LeAnn Andrews, one of fourth grade teachers, is taking a year off.  Mrs. Andrews has been a fixture in fourth grade for many years and she will be missed this next year as she takes a year off.

BYU Folkdance Assembly

Submitted by susan.bird on

The BYU Folkdance Team Traditionz came to Brookside yesterday and put on a wonderful assembly.  Teaching our students about different cultures and how people migrate to new areas in the world, bringing their cultures and heritage to help influence their new place of living.  They performed dances from the Ukraine, Philippines, Mexico, Czech Republic, Hungry, and the United States.  Students were wowed by their ability and the "tricks" they could pull off.  Thank you BYU for helping enrich our students' learning about other cultures.

Third Grade Fun

Submitted by susan.bird on

Our third graders had a fun a fun and busy month.  They took a fieldtrip to the Springville Fire Department and the Police Station where they received a tour and played a game of kickball with the officers.  Then, they finished the day with swimming at the rec center in Springville.

They took another field trip to the Springville Museum of Art where they learned some cool and interesting facts about the paintings.  And they finished it up with the track meet.  It was a cold day, but the kids had a blast!

Hope of America

Submitted by susan.bird on

Our fifth graders had the opportunity to participate in the Hope of America program this year. They spent months learning songs and actions that went along with their American History and Government curriculum.  They performed at the Marriott Center this week with other schools and did a fantastic job! We are proud of all of their efforts and hard work!
