Our class had a special visitor today, Mrs. Clayson.  She's Mrs. Ramos' mother, and is a retired teacher from Nebo. She taught our class how to make Santa Claus by tearing paper. (No scissors allowed!) It was a fun project and our Santas turned out great!

This week, Mrs. Gulbransen’s class received an elf! We named her on Monday, and she told us how much she loved her name by writing it all over the board today. We are excited to see what other mischief she gets into these next couple of weeks!

Mrs. Pickering’s first grade class has been busy getting ready for the holidays. Over the last couple days they’ve been drawing, outlining, and watercoloring a picture of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. The kids were so excited to break out the watercolors. To say they are excited for the upcoming holiday would be an understatement. Way to go Tigers!

December 3, 2018

Happy Monday, everyone! Here are just a few reminders for this week:

  • Wednesday is our PTA meeting and Volunteer Appreciation Brunch at 10:00 in the Tiger’s Den.

  • Our Christmas Choir Concert is Friday at 4:00 for our 4th-6th grade choir. They have been practicing and have prepared some fun songs to share.

  • On Friday, we will be having a lockdown drill at 9:15. This drill will help us practice what to do in case we ever have an intruder inside the school. I will go over the procedure during the morning announcements and help the students understand that it is just a drill and that they are safe. Teachers will do the same during the drill so students can remain calm and reassured.

Students must be checked out and dismissed from office when they leave school early. Therefore, we are asking parents to wait in the office when they come to check their students out of school. The secretaries will call down to the students’ class and have them come to the office. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe by following this policy.

Also, please make every effort to have your students here at school. We understand that there are illnesses and other circumstances that may keep a student from attending school, but hopefully those circumstances will be rare. We are happy to help students get caught up when such circumstances arise, but it is difficult when there are excessive absences. Teachers come prepared to teach curriculum standards and concepts and it is difficult when students are not here to receive the instruction. Thank you for all you do to support your students and their education.

Thank you and have a great week.

Santa's Beard

Attributions:
Miss Susie Bird

The fifth graders are learning how to multiply decimals.  To make the task a little bit more enjoyable, the students made Santa beards.  They multiplied decimals, matched the problems to the solutions and then curled the ‘hair.’  The students loved making these beards. Bonus: their teachers could see how they did with this skill.
