Solids, Liquids, and Gases, Oh My!
Science lesson- student learn about melting, about solid and liquid states of matter, and then discover why plastic was invented. In the activity, Candy Melt, students conduct an investigation to determine which types of candy melt in hot water. Using their observations, they’d exude which candy is the best choice to bring to a hot summer camp.
Fun Friday
All 2nd graders who turn in their homework get to participate in a “Fun Friday” activity. Activities vary every week and include movement, art, games, imagination, stories, videos, etc. In these pictures students did yoga while listening to the “Star Wars” story. Others chose to do some Math through art (dot to dot) and colored bookmarks to motivate them to read.
Kindness
Our school theme this year is kindness. We want to focus on what it means to be kind and how to be kind to each other. We have quotes in the hallways and teachers and sharing lessons and activities about kindness. Mrs. Tolley had the students make a pledge to be kind this year. She had the students trace their hands, cut it out and write their name to show their pledge. Then Mrs. Tolley create a kindness rainbow out of all the handprints. It's a awesome sight as your walk down the main hallways. Let's all pledge to be a little kinder.
