6th Grade Superbowl Football

Submitted by amber.hobbs on

It is so amazing being a teacher and getting to know all of your students! It is just as wonderful to see your students outside of school though. I love going and watching all of our students participate in different activities. From piano recitals to soccer games I love them all. October 20th, I got to see some of my students play against each other. I invited my class to come support as well and I had 10 students show up! It melted my heart to see so many students come support each other. Of course we had to make signs!

5th Grade understands math by doing reader's theater

Submitted by amber.hobbs on

5th grade has been trying to figure out what to do with remainders in division.  We read some readers theaters that gave examples of what to do with them.  We learned that sometimes you round up, drop them, or share them.   This was a fun way for students to get real life ideas of what you would do with remainders.

Fun in Art with Mrs. Poole

Submitted by amber.hobbs on

Mrs. Poole, the fifth graders art teacher, took the kids outside and let them paint with chalk.  The kids came in with their hands covered in "chalk paint" and huge smiles on their faces.  Thanks for the fun art lesson, Mrs. Poole!

First grade fire prevention presentation

Submitted by amber.hobbs on
Mrs. Bird's class had a special visitor on Thursday, October 8th, Irelynn's dad! Ryan Waycasy is a firefighter for Provo City. We were lucky to have him visit us during Fire Prevention Week to talk about fire safety. We learned that we should never hide if there is a fire at our house. The students were in awe as Firefighter Waycasy put on his full fire gear. Thank you, Firefighter Waycasy for stopping by!

I was so lucky to watch Mrs. Clark's class during their reading time. Mrs. Clark was reading with groups. Students were working on writing stories. They were reading to self and reading to others. They were also reading along with a story. What a great class with a super special teacher!

Soil Fun!

Submitted by amber.hobbs on

Mrs. Clark's first grade class had a great time digging in soil to see what it was made of. We found twigs, rocks, millipedes, a baby snail, and even a full grown snail. Then we enjoyed layering soil and getting to eat it- complete with worms! (We used pudding, cookies, Oreos, and gummy worms.)
