On November 9th we went to a leadership conference at BYU to learn about being great leaders. Some of our keynote speakers were John Bytheway, Brad Barton, Darroll Young, and Brent Burnham. The students had a lot of fun and learned a lot. Zack Antonino said, "John Bytheway taught him it's better to be respected than popular". What is a Meteorologist?
Our 4th grade classes have started a science unit on Meteorology. To begin, we needed to learn all about what a meteorologist is and does. We studied, read, and researched to gather information, then wrote reports. After that, we turned our meteorologist into US! They don their rain gear complete with hats, gloves, ponchos and boots.
The Bliss Squad
Brookside has a new group called The Bliss Squad. Bliss stands for Brookside Leaders in Service and Spirit. The group is made up of 8 sixth grade students who strive to lead by example. They are a great group of kids.
The Bliss Squad recently participated in a service project in which they helped clean up trash at Wayne Bartholomew Family Park. They also helped clean out a hundred plus snow cone syrup bottles to prepare the concession stand to shut down for the season. The students really enjoyed serving the community.
Wacky Hair!
In Mrs. Smith's First Grade Class we celebrated Red Ribbon Week by observing Wacky Hair Day. This week we are talking about how to stay away from drugs. We have learned that illegal drugs are bad for our bodies and taking drugs might make us "do something dumb." We don't want to ruin our really smart brains by taking drugs. We know to say "Boo!" to drugs.
Halloween Science Creation
Miss Sahlins class invited Mrs. Hall's class to see a science project! She made a big bubble made out of dry ice, dish soap and water! They loved it and were so excited.
