Super Bowl STEM Challenge

Submitted by susan.bird on

With the Super-Bowl on the way, Miss Bradford’s class decided to turn the event into a STEM activity. Students were challenged to engineer a self-standing goal post. Not an easy task when students were only given 7 pieces of paper, 18 inches of masking tape, a ruler, scissors, and only 30 minutes, but the work must go on! At least six students were able to complete the task with success. Way to go, Miss Bradford’s class!!

Mrs. Smith in 5th grade said, "Taeler Richmond tries to be respectful and help the teacher and Olivia Moreno tries to be a good friend and works things out with them". Great job girls! In Mr Andersons class Levi Weller ran after Victoria to bring her backpack to her that she had forgotten. Way to be thoughtful Levi!

Fractions in Fourth Grade

Submitted by susan.bird on

Miss Iverson is helping us to learn that not all fractions are created equal. 1/2 really depends on the size of the whole. Then we talked about how when we are looking at fractions as numbers, we are always referring to the same sized whole.
