School Lunch Week October 7-11

Submitted by susan.bird on

We are ce;ebrating school lunch week October 7-11 and our fabulous lunch ladies have a full week of fun planned.  This year’s theme is “School Lunch: What’s on your Playlist?” There will be a coloring contest and during lunch there will be stickers on the bottom of random trays.  Those who find a sticker can trade it in for a prize. Sounds like fun happening in the lunchroom!

Music Class

Submitted by susan.bird on

In our Music speciality class, Mrs. Fitzgerald took the first few weeks to teach the students the story behind the Star Spangled Banner.  She helped them put on a reader’s theater play about the song and then they practiced singing the anthem. Thanks, Mrs. Fitzgerald for loving our students and teaching them a love of music and drama.

Drawing Basics

Mrs. Stapel's class is having a wonderful experience this year.  We get to work with a BYU Arts Scholar who comes to our classroom to teach visual arts.  Last week Miss Flinders came to class to teach drawing basics. Soon she will be working with the students to integrate visual arts with 2nd grade curriculum.  We are sure loving this opportunity.

Who Wants to Be an Opera Star

Submitted by susan.bird on

Today, we had the priviledge of having the Utah Opera come and present to us Who Wants to Be an Opera Star.  These singers taught us the types of voices like bass, mezzo, tenor and saparano.  They also taught us a few terms like aria and bravo.  It was fun to listen to them sing an aria, a duo, a trio and a quartet.  They work hard to become opera singer and we are thankful to them for coming and sharing their talent with us.
