The Halloween parade has been scheduled for October 31st. Our sixth grade classes will be performing “Thriller” at 2:30 with the parade starting immediately after. Please park in the school’s parking lot or on side streets. Please do not use Reams parking lot. Students are welcome to wear their costumes to school that day, but masks can only be worn during the parade. In consideration of our younger students, please make sure costumes and masks are modest and not gory. PM kindergarten will participate in the afternoon school parade at 2:40 pm. AM kindergarten will parade their costumes at 9:15 am through the kindergarten hallway. Please contact your student’s kindergarten teacher if you have any other questions or need additional information.

FYI -- October 26th is Prescription Drug Take Back Day at the Springville Library from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. This is a great opportunity to turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal.

On October 9, the Fifth Graders went on a field trip to the Curiosity Museum at Thanksgiving Point.  It was a cold and windy day but that didn’t stop them from exploring the Discovery Gardens. They also had fun at the Waterworks, the Rainforest, and Kidopolis.  We were lucky to find that the traveling feature was an American Adventure. Students could travel the maze with a life board and see if they could survive in 1607.  We just finished studying the Lost Colony of Roanoke, Jamestown and the 13 original colonies. We all worked and played together and were exhausted when we got back.

We took a fun field trip to Rowley's Red Barn in Santaquin last week! All of the first grade went. We got to pick our own apples and eat them. We also got to learn about how they grow all their fruit trees on their farm. We got to play on all the awesome things they had set up for their fall festivities and we got sent home with a delicious donut. We had a blast!

In Miss Bird’s fifth grade social studies class, we have been learning about the 13 colonies.  The students were given a colony and asked to research the colony learning when it became a colony, who founded it, what was the major industries, and what was the geography like.  After their research, students created colony balloons and shared their findings with the rest of the class. These fifth graders loved this assignment, constantly asking when is social studies.

Teacher Tuesday - Ms. Wright

Ms.  Shelley Wright is one of our fabulous fourth grade teachers.  Here are a few things you should know about her.

Her favorite ice cream flavor is strawberry cheesecake.

Her favorite zoo animal is butterflies.

On weekends, she usually cleans her house or work.

If Ms. Wright was given $1000, she would most definitely buy books.

Her favorite thing to teach every year would be: Science and Social Studies.

What is the best thing about your job?  She said, “learning with students.”
