Tuesday we were reminded to use our heads by wearing crazy hair or crazy hats.  It was fun to see all the spooky, fun and creative hairstyles and all the fun hats!

Teacher Tuesday - Mr. Anderson

Miss Susie Bird

We have the greatest teachers in first grade.  Mr. Dustin Anderson moved from second grade down to first grade this year and is doing a fabulous job.  He is definitely one of our favorite first grade teachers.

On the weekend, Mr. Anderson loves to Golf!

If you could choose to have lunch with any fictional character, who would it be?  Mr. Anderson said “Han Solo.”

Mr. Anderson’s favorite teacher was Mrs. Matis because She was always very caring and kind to everyone.

If given a $1000 - what would Mr. Anderson buy? New golf clubs, of course.

At Karaoke night, Mr. Anderson would sing The Blower's Daughter

Who or what inspires you? Those that always seem to have a positive attitude no matter the situation.

Share a memory or two of school: “When I was in fifth grade, I was the captain of the winning intramural dodgeball team.  Also, in seventh grade I never finished reading this book we were being tested on and so I had my twin brother go in and take the test for me.  That is not an honest thing to do, so don't follow my example!”

Mr. Anderson says that his favorite thing to teach every year is Science and Art

What is the best thing about your job? Creating friendships and seeing growth in others.

  • Wear lots of red & your wristband.

Tuesday: Use your head—Don't use drugs!

  • Wear crazy hair or a crazy hat.

Wednesday: Be on the drug-free team!

  • Wear your favorite team's shirt or jersey.

Thursday: Say BOO to drugs & alcohol!

  • Wear your Halloween costume.

Friday: Brookside Tigers choose to be Drug Free!

  • Wear your Brookside school shirt.

Also, our Halloween parades will be on Thursday, October 31st. AM kindergarten’s parade will begin at 9:15am Thursday morning. The parade will be down the main hall for all to see. Then at 2:30pm, on the blacktop, our 6th grade students will perform “Thriller” for the parents. At 2:40pm the parade for PM kindergarten and 1st-6th grades students will begin on the playground. After the parade, 6th grade students will perform “Thriller” again for the students. Thank you to the PTA for helping us set up for the parade. Please remember to park in the school’s parking lots and not in Ream’s parking lot. Thank you so much!

Have a great evening!

Friend Friday

We love our secretaries and all that they do for us and the school.  They are knowledgeable about anything you could ask them and are always willing to help.  This week our friend is Mrs. Laurie Bills.

On the weekend, Mrs. Bills loves to Ride Horses, Read, Clean, Dinner and a Movie

She would choose to have lunch with Amelia Bedilia

Her favorite teacher was Mrs Peck because she had her for Kindergarten and 1st grade. Mrs Bills think it was because she was her beginning and was so nice and friendly. She was what seemed to Mrs. Bills as old and grandmotherly.

If Mrs. Bills had $1000, she would buy New school clothes!

At Karaoke night, Mrs. Bills would sing: Proud to be an American

Who or what inspires you? President Russel M. Nelson because he is so young for his age. Everything about him is inspiring.

Share a memory of school: “I loved getting out of school every Wednesday with my friend to go skiing. We were on the ski club and it made winter so fun.”

What is Mrs. Bills favorite thing to teach every year? How to apply ice and put a bandage on properly?

What is the best thing about your job? My co-workers!

Count the Monkeys

Our play was called, "Count The Monkeys." It was based off of the book "Count The Monkeys" by Mac Barnett and Kevin Cornell. We had thrity-five students participating in the play and each person got to portray a different animal, combining at the end to all be monkeys. A big thank you to Sandra Lamb in our Skills department for making all of the animal masks. The students began working on the play about four weeks ago with the help of Kathleen Evans and her daughter in law, Hyesuhn Evans, who directed the entire play.  The students had three performances on October 23rd at 10:00 a.m., 2:35 p.m, and 7:00 p.m. They performed so well and Mrs. Jorgensen and I are so proud of them and grateful for all of the help and support we received.
