Story from Intermountain Healthcare

Submitted by susan.bird on

Today Mrs. Andrews Fourth graders along with Mrs. Willis’ and Mrs. Pickering’s first grade classes at Brookside were the recipients of stories, activities and a little treat.  Ryan Hicks with some members of his team (Pam, Russell and Christine) from Intermountain Healthcare shared their time with the students as part of an ongoing service project that could bring STEM activities to our school.  Thank you IHC for your service to the community.

Christmas with the Chipmunks

Submitted by susan.bird on

All of the songs in our Christmas Choir Concert this year were based on arrangements from the chipmunks.  We all enjoyed the twists on familiar tunes and silly speaking parts in between. The kids worked hard preparing and did a great job!  The audience even got to sing along on Deck the Halls and they turned out to be pretty great singers too. Special shoutout to all the amazing students who took on singing solos and speaking parts!

Active Learning

Submitted by susan.bird on

Every term, Mrs. Beckert brings the students together for an active learning assembly.  Last term, the students learned about determination and being self-aware. This term the students are learning and practicing asking questions and wondering.  Mrs. Beckert talked about what asking questions and wondering does for us. There are three things: deepening understanding, increasing our ability to solve problems and to create meaning.  She taught the students that when they come to a problem they need to see, think and wonder.
