This year at Brookside Elementary we have 6 faculty members retiring and Principal Rudd is leaving for another job opportunity.
Mrs. Evans has taught for 21 years. 17.7 years was working as an aide in first grade and then 10 years as a full-time classroom teacher in third grade. Her favorite thing about Brookside is the kids of course!!!!
Brookside was spoiled by the PTA during teacher appreciation week. Everyday the students got to participate in dress up days like crazy hair, crazy socks, dress up like a star, and hat day. The teachers got served treats everyday during lunch as well. The theme was if you give a mouse a cookie and that is how they decided what treats to give us. Also, all of the teachers got their doors decorated. Thank you PTA!!
Dear Parents,
It's the time of year when we begin to think about student placement and registration for next school year. Attached you will find a copy of our Student Placement form and our registration form.
First Grade: Logan Busby, Evie Fluckiger, Jacob Mayo, and Casey Cottle
Second Grade: Adalyn Haglund, Arianna Sanchez, Reed McFerson, and Preston Ballard
Third Grade: Lydia Steiner, Zoie Curtis, and Sully Hall
Fourth Grade:McKenzie Cooper, McKinley Bartholomew, Eastn Rummage, and Kami Olsen
Fifth Grade: Calvin Barrager, Brooklyn Pugmire, and Jackson Blackburn
Sixth Grade: Sylvia Orme, Stephanie Orozco, and Eliza Yeagley
The fifth graders braved the rain on March 31 for their field trip to Camp Floyd. Students learned about what it was like to live in 1865. They started with a presentation about Johnston's Army coming into the Salt Lake Valley. They saw a real musket being fired, then they got some hands on experiences. They became riders in the Pony Express, they visited a museum and the Stagecoach Inn, learn to fire muskets, made adobe bricks and candles, and they got to see what it was like to be a student in 1865. The students had a blast.

The PTA has put together an exciting week for the students and teachers. Below are all of the ways the students can participate. Thanks for all you do!
I would like to introduce you to your new principal for the 2017-2018 school year. Her name is Dana Beckert and she is wonderful. I've had many chances over the years to rub shoulders with Mrs. Beckert and know you will love her. I've already told her how amazing your children are and how supportive you, as parents are. I'm so grateful for the time I've been at Brookside and know she will continue making our school the best place for your children.
Here is a little more of her many accomplishments:
