Friends Friday - Mrs. Olsen

Submitted by susan.bird on

It’s Friday and we are highlighting our fabulous librarian, Mrs. Trisha Olsen.  Mrs. Olsen makes library fun. She helps the kids find books to read, teaches them how to use a library and reads them stories.  We are grateful to have Mrs. Olsen here at Brookside.

Magnets, Magnets Everywhere

Submitted by susan.bird on

We learned about magnets and magnetic fields. We also had a guest physicist, Mr. Christensen, who taught us more about the magnetic fields.

Teacher Tuesday - Mrs. Stapel

Submitted by susan.bird on

Our teacher this week is a fabulous second grade teacher, Mrs. Darla Stapel.  Mrs. Stapel is an amazing teacher and you can tell that she really loves the kids, every kid in the school. We love Mrs. Stapel

What do you love to do on the weekend: I love having family dinners and play games with my family.

If you could have lunch with a fictional character, who would it be? I would have lunch with Mrs. Weasley from Harry Potter.

Our New Brookside Crossing Guard Teresa Crown

Submitted by liz.porter on

Our new crossing guard has been a life saver for the students here at Brookside Elementary. She was born and raised in Payson but has lived here in Springville for 10 years. She served a mission in El Salvador, and has traveled around most of the western United States. She is married with 2 daughters. Her hobbies include singing, sewing and building things. She has another job of sewing Minky blankets. Her favorite food is poppyseed chicken and her favorite treat is anything chocolate. An interesting fact is that her mother was a crossing guard when she was a girl in Payson.

Principal Beckert's Monday Message

Submitted by liz.porter on

December 2, 2019

Dear Parents,

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break filled with blessings, fabulous food and family. I had the opportunity to take a trip to California with my husband and two of our daughters. California wasn’t very sunny with all the rain we experienced, but it was a great time all the same.

Mayflower

Submitted by susan.bird on

The entire second grade has completed informational reports on the Mayflower for the month of November. In these reports, the students wrote about the items the Pilgrims brought onto the Mayflower for their journey. The students also created their own pilgrim faces using paper plates and construction paper. It has made the second grade hall come to life and our students learned so much about what the Pilgrims' lives were like as they traveled to America on the Mayflower.
